Navigating the Storm: Coping with Declining Online Sales

Selling digital products has been my main source of income. Those products are mostly blog templates and products with private label rights license.

online sales decline

It’s been a steady gig, creating these items for bloggers and online sellers. But it’s not always easy – the needs of my customers change often, and I have to keep up with the latest trends to stay relevant.

The Gradual Impact of the Pandemic on Sales

For many years, I’ve been on a good ride until the onset of the great pandemic when sales starts to decline gradually.

Sales started dropping bit by bit, and it wasn’t long before I noticed a real difference in my income.

It was a tough shift, something that I know could happen but ignored, and it made me realize just how quickly things can change in this business.

Balancing Stress and Optimism: Navigating Sales Slumps

Sometimes, the drop in sales really gets to me, and I start to worry about where things are heading. But most of the time, I try to shake it off and keep going as if it’s not a big deal.

I guess it’s my way of staying positive and not letting the stress take over, even though deep down, I know it’s something I can’t just ignore.

Reflecting on the Glory Days

Back in the best days, I’d easily make over a thousand dollars by the middle of the month. And when it was really busy, like during holiday seasons or big sales, I could pull in around two thousand.

It was normal to see those numbers, the sales just come in every month because there was a real demand for what I was offering.

Facing Harsh Realities

This morning, I checked my PayPal account and all I saw was a hundred bucks in there. It was a bit of an awakening, to be honest. Seeing such a small amount compared to what I’m used to really hit me hard.

It got me worried and set my mind racing, thinking about what the future holds and how I need to adjust to these changes.

If things keep going like this, with sales staying low, I’m going to have a real problem. Paying the monthly hosting costs and domain fees for my sites could become tough.

And it’s not just about the business expenses; it’s about basic needs too, like being able to afford food for the table. It’s a stressful thought, realizing how much is at stake if I can’t turn things around.

The Reality of Single-Source Income Reliance

This is the moment when reality really sinks in. I’ve been relying on just this one site for income for so many years, and now it’s not doing well at all.

I’m at a bit of a loss, honestly.

Figuring out how to make extra money, to supplement what I’m losing, is something I need to think about seriously. It’s a tough spot to be in, especially when you’ve been comfortable with one main source of income for so long.

Considering New Avenues

I’ve been considering offering my services on platforms like Fiverr and Legiit, but there’s a part of me that’s hesitant.

It feels like my skills and knowledge might not be up to par with the hundreds, maybe even thousands, of people already out there offering similar services. It’s a bit intimidating, thinking about jumping into such a crowded space.

I wonder if I can really stand out or if I’ll just be another face in the crowd.

Juggling Personal Passions with Financial Pressures

Adding to my worries, I have several big personal projects that I’m currently working on. They’re important to me, but the catch is they’re not going to bring in any income right now.

This could be a gamble because I’m not even sure if these projects will end up being successful or if they’ll start generating income in the future.

It’s a bit of a tightrope walk, balancing these personal passions that require time and effort, with the immediate need to find reliable sources of income.

Weighing Immediate Financial Needs Against Long-Term Goals

So, I’m really confused on what to prioritize now.

On one hand, there are these ongoing projects that I’m invested in, but they don’t promise any immediate financial return.

On the other hand, there’s the pressing need to find ways to make some quick money to keep things afloat.

It’s a tough choice – do I focus on long-term projects that might pay off down the road, or do I put all that on hold to concentrate on more immediate ways to earn?

It’s a dilemma that’s really weighing on me.
